Volunteers

As you can imagine, if Fundy FRINGE Festival is going to be the city-wide extravaganza we’re all hoping for, we’re going to need a host of smiling, willing volunteers. Whatever your age, orientation or inside leg measurement, we can find a spot where you’ll be useful. Just imagine the thrill of telling your great-great-grandchildren that you were involved in the Fundy Fringe Festival way back in the digital dark ages - you’ll be the coolest centenarian ever!

The roles below aren’t definitive but are meant to give you some idea of the spaces we need filled.

Team Captain:

You’ll lead the team at each of our sites. Act as the main point of contact for the venues and handle any problem that might come up. Be able to delegate work to team members and fill in where needed. Be comfortable leading a team of volunteers in a positive way Become knowledgeable in venue specifics and be able to answer any questions or concerns from volunteers, performers and patrons Deal effectively with the patrons and performers in all situations while remaining calm and tactful

Venue Volunteer:

Take tickets at the venue doors, respond to patrons’ questions, and assist performers with set up. Team members must: Be able to communicate with patrons to sell and check tickets Be comfortable handling money Deal effectively with the patrons and performers in all situations while remaining calm and tactful

Venue Technician:

Be part of our special team of technicians! Install, operate, and uninstall light, sound, and video equipments in each venue. Experience is a must, but training is provided by our Technical Coordinator. You’ll leave with a strong knowledge of theatre production, a letter of recommandation attesting what you have learn with us, and other surprises! Team members must : Be interested in theatre production Be available between the 17 and the 26 of August Be able to troubleshoot quickly under pressure

Fringe FriendRaiser:

FriendRaisers are the first Volunteers to greet patrons at the venues. This team ensures festival goers are welcomed warmly and are responsible for asking for donations for the Festival’s button campaign. Team members must: Be outgoing and energetic Have positive attitudes and great big smiles who love to engage with people

Hub Volunteer:

You’ll be at the center of the action! Be the friendly face that our volunteers see when they begin their shift, the touch point for performers after their shows, the team that provide patrons with Festival-related information. Team members must: Be comfortable handling money Be able to pay attention to detail and accuracy Have good communication skills as they interact with their fellow volunteers, performers and patrons

Bartending:

Help sell drinks, serve beverages and keep our Fringe bar nice and clean! Team members must: Be comfortable handling money Provide friendly and efficient service to Festival patrons Have the ability to lift a limited amount of weight Must be 19 years of age or older.

The chart is intended to help us create your initial schedule. Once you are contacted with your shift times, we can try to adjust them to fit any scheduling restrictions that may come up between now and August.

When listing your availability, please do not assume that you will be able to attend performances while carrying out your volunteer tasks. This will depend on your role and associated activities you have during a shift.
